"Making films increases my awareness."
I was raised by film-buff parents who would drag me to films by Eisenstein
and Tarkovsky while other kids were watching Herbie the Lovebug.
I've been interested in independent filmmaking since reading books on
the subject at age 15, but it wasn't until 1998 when I joined a super-8
club that I actually started making films. Putting together super-8
shorts has taught me as much, if not more, about filmmaking that I ever
could have learned at an expensive film school. In addition Emerald
Reels provides a community of filmmakers and movie-lovers - which is
priceless for experimenting with, and the understanding of, the art
of filmmaking.
