Satellites 2001: Screens from Outer Spaces is an orbiting film & video festival encompassing 14 events taking place at 10 different "satellite" microcinemas throughout Seattle. Held annually as a complement to the cinematic splendor of the Seattle International Film Festival, Satellites celebrates the strength and importance of Seattle’s long-standing independent media community.Contributors -- including 911 Media Arts, Consolidated Works, Emerald Reels, Humanlab, Microcinema, Northwest Film Forum, the Seattle Underground Film Festival, Shenanigan Films, SPACEBOAT TV, and The Warren Report -- have joined forces to present a celebration of the best of their venue’s unique programming and lectures through a series devoted to Seattle's thriving undependent, alternative and experimental film & video arts community. Satellites includes both emerging and established individuals and organizations who represent 75 years of combined experience in producing and exhibiting independent media in Seattle.
